Alisha and Greg │Ottawa Kansas Family Photographer

I met Alisha online, through our blogs, and our mutual love of photography just kept bringing us together. We both started our businesses at about the same time and I just think she's the bee's knees. Can I say that? I think I just did.

Anyhoo, she came all the way down from Kansas City with her cute self to get some photos of her baby belly before her newest child makes his arrival. She brought her man, Greg along and let me tell you, this is one fun couple. He makes her laugh and she gets his motor going.

I also should mention that there was a bit of heat going on that had NOTHING to do with the 100+ temps out in Kansas today. Dang.

I seriously could go on and on about how much fun I had with these two, but you wanna see the goods. Well, if you insist...

Carlie: Take 2 │Ottawa Kansas Senior Photographer

Sneak Peek for Carlie! │ Ottawa Kansas Senior Photographer

The rain started yesterday, but it was last week when I heard about the hurricane down south that I knew this week would be bad for photo sessions. I felt so bad for Carlie, she was so excited to get her senior pictures done and the outlook was dismal for tonight.

But after a little Weather Channel stalking, I discovered a break in the weather and we decided to go for it. Nevermind that is was pouring sheets when my assistant, Connor and I made a quick stop for some supplies. I had a gut feeling. Ha ha.

I knew Carlie was nervous for her shoot, but really I also had a gut feeling that she would be fab. And...she was. Of course!

What can I say about Carlie? Yeah, she comes from sunny Arizona and she runs cross country and loves Michael Jackson, but aside from all that she is just a really classy person. Full of happiness and unique to the core. It was a delight to photograph her and make her senior portraits a fun special time.

And what do you know....about an hour into the shoot, the sun came out. It seemed appropriate.

Funny Girls │Ottawa Kansas Family Photographer

Tonight I had a super good time with the C family. One thing I love about Sara, and her family, is that she always has such fun ideas. They come ready to play and with faith that we will capture something special in the process. It's how every family shoot should be: laid back, playful and full of laughter and fun.

Jill and Mike │Ottawa Kansas Photographer

Tonight I had the distinct pleasure of photographing Jill and Mike's family. Not only are they a beautiful and loving family, but they are hanging in there through a tough health battle. Mike was recently blessed with a liver transplant and still has many obstacles to overcome. From reading a journal that Jill has been keeping online for friends and family, I get the sense that their faith is still strong and they are fighting the good fight.

Here is a little teaser from their session tonight. Of course there are so many I still want to share, but it's getting late and my computer was being very disobedient.


Family shoots are actually quite laid back, especially with young kids involved. I want everyone to just let out their breath from the day and relax. We played and roamed around the berry farm. Here are some of my favorites so far.

Meet Connor, my Senior Representative for 2011! I am so thankful she agreed to be my rep this year. She has an artist's heart and an eye for visual beauty so I knew she'd be bringing something special to the shoot.

It doesn't hurt that she looks pretty fierce in all her pics. She's a natural in front of the camera and let me tell you, it was brain numbing hard to pick the photos for this sneak peek. No worries though, with her being my senior rep, I will be posting lots of shots from our session tonight.
